WHAT TO DO ?

Bordering France and Germany, Basel is divided into Small Basel and Big Basel by the river Rhine. Adorned with historical and government buildings along both its banks, the river plays a vital part in the life of the city, and in tourist excursions. The most vibrant spot in town is Markplatz, where one can see the Rathaus (town hall) with its eye-catching red brick exterior, while the medieval cathedrals and bridges also give Basel its lively colour. Flooded with visitors especially in summer, Basel is also home to one of the world's most significant art fairs, Art Basel.
